Post Holdings has 22 branded offerings including Shredded Wheat with six varieties, Pebbles with five varieties, Malt-O-Meal with 39 varieties, Honey Bunches of Oats with nine varieties, Great Grains with five varieties, Grape Nuts with three varieties and then there are Alpha-Bits, Bran Flakes, Chips Ahoy!, Coco Wheats, Golden Crisps, Golden OREO O’s Cereal and Mega Stuf OREO O’s and OREO O’s, HONEY MAID Smores Cereal, Honey Comb, Post Hostess Cereal, NILLA Banana Pudding Cereal, NUTTER BUTTER Cereal, Raisin Brand and SOUR PATCH KIDS Cereal. There are Trix, Kix, Lucky Charms, Total, Wheaties and Monsters brands, many with a variety of choices. Cascadian Farms has 22 varieties including a few granola entries. The Fiber One family has three offerings. The Chex brand family has eight varieties, seven of which are gluten free. The Cheerios brand family consists of 16 varieties, one of which is a limited edition (Peach).
The current composition of the cereal aisle is already beyond abundance: there are incredible numbers of flavor options, available in multiple sizes from single use to large family sizes: cups, bags and boxes. The solutions are not more choices and prettier packages. Take a walk down the cereal aisle in your local supermarket.
